Challenge

Alright guys, time for a challenge! I hope most of you have heard the Christmas story about how Jesus was born. If you haven't, I encourage you to read it HERE. It shows the true meaning of Christmas and why this holiday exists. Sure, it's fine to give presents and believe in Santa Claus, but just remember that Christmas was made because of this and it wouldn't exist without Jesus. So while you are super busy preparing for the exciting day, and doing your last minute shopping, I challenge you tell at least two people about the true meaning of Christmas. So I know you're thinking "You're crazy! It is the 22nd and I have two more days to do it!" There are two entire days 'till Christmas... 48 hours, I'm sure you will see two people over two days. You have a best friend or a next door neighbor right? If you feel called to spread the word to more than two people, great! Thank you for taking the time to read this in your busy schedule, and Merry Christmas.

The new, redone Gmail compose is now available!

There is now a new compose feature in Gmail! All you must do is click compose an then "Try the new compose experience here!" I love it and think it is a major breakthrough! Don't like it? Currently you can click "Switch back to old compose," but I'm sure eventually as google does this, you will be forced into it.

Windows 8

This is my review on the new Windows operating system, Windows 8. Windows 8 has nice clean graphics and is VERY easy to use! It features Internet Explorer 10 as well as the new App Market. Since it is made mainly for a touch screen, it is a but touchy with the touchpad/trackpad, but with a mouse you should have no problem. The start menu button no longer lives. To get to the start menu, scroll your mouse to the bottom left corner of the screen and click the rectangle that says "Start" with some colorful boxes around it. Over all, Windows got a nice clean overhaul.

Say bye bye to Facebook's "Ask Question" feature. The company says it's moving away from this "to focus on other things." This feature will quietly phased out little by little. The feature will still remain possible for pages and groups.

I am very proud to say that I am a BIG supporter of Spotify! I like the service! I like it so much that I am officially unofficially endorsing Spotify! Great budget headphones!

iPod, the original meaning was to play music. Now of course with apps and gadgets and this that and the other thing, It's way more that just music. It's a portable gaming system (at least I consider it sort of like that). But what about those times you just want to jam to your music. Make it sound great. Included with the iPod touch are the 100% cheap in every way earbuds (aka the tin cans out of the box) that don't sound that good and fall apart in 3 months. So today I'm going to recommend to you some great earbuds/headphones that sound great and won't break the bank! So, cheap apple earbuds. No remote, no mic. you know you can buy apples $74.99 ones but today our MAX budget is $65. 1. Skullcandy Ink'd 2, These sound great and feature supreme sound! $20 norm. $25 W/ remote and mic. So you don't like earbuds. Moving on to headphones. Next up is Skullcandy Heash 2. These are over-ear headphones and feature supreme sound! $54.99 Norm. $64.99 W/ remote and Mic.

Hope this helps,

YouTube - The most useful tool I've ever seen

Do you ever find yourself thinking about how something is impossible? Maybe you cracked your iPod's screen, you think "There is no way I can ever fix this!" - "It'll cost like $200!!" - Actually... your wrong. It only costs $25 for all the parts! "But I don't have the skills to fix it" You don't need much skills, just a computer (or smartphone, iPad, etc.) and YouTube. I even have a tutorial on how to fix a cracked screen on an iPad 2! click here to view it.

Short and to  the point,

Why is it we always want the latest tech?

So your watching your TV... an iPod touch 4G ad comes on... the ad ends, you have an iPod touch 3G. You kind of like what you see on the ad... FOREVER ON you ALWAYS think about that new iPod touch that came out! - See the problem here? You watched the ad is the problem. "But I want to see the latest tech" - Sure you do, so maybe watching the ad isn't the issue, maybe it's thinking about it AFTER the ad, and going to the site displayed on the ad that reads "You could have an iPod touch for just $199" - $199! but.. stop and think... $199 is the 8GB model which isn't worth what you pay for. So you really need the 32GB one. "But wait.. I've only had my touch 3G for 1 year.. does this mean every year I have to buy the new one?" - No. See what your missing here is if you take good care of your iPod (DON'T JAILBREAK ON MODIFY IN ANY WAY), sure you don't have the camera sure you don't have the mic, but... if you don't jailbreak which often requires a firmware downgrade, you can have (almost) the same software as the touch 4G, and 2 years later when it breaks you buy a new one. You see it's learning to live with what God gave you. I have the iPod nano 5G and have been wanting the touch 4G SO bad since January. But I waited, and waited, and waited some more, and now I'm (most likely if everything goes right) 1 month away for getting one! - I know what your thinking "6 months?!? is this some kind of joke? 6 months isn't that long to wait" - It is when you want it REALLY bad. So next time you want the latest tech, stop and think before you buy.

Touch 4G ROCKS,

Patrick - A fighter

Today I'm changing this up a little bit. Rather than my usual tech related posts, this time I'm going to tell you about a boy named Patrick.

NASHVILLE - March 18. That day marked the beginning of a remarkable journey of faith, love and hope for the Froehling-Forte families.
It was at that time Erin Forte Froehling, daughter of local residents Dr. Louis and Grace Forte, began journaling in ‘Prayers for Patrick F.,’ an online Facebook group.
On these pages Erin shares her story -one that would personally touch the lives of many and come to capture the emotion of thousands.
Her first entry began, "The opportunity that we have been provided began March 18 when Patrick (the Froehling's two year-old son) decided he wanted to take an extra nap ...he has always been the kid who slept for no more than 45 minutes when he did take a nap.”
She notes the next day was similar, with little Patrick taking a second daily nap, still going to bed that evening at 9 p.m., sleeping through the night - an odd behavior for her little one.
After a few more days of the same types of sleeping habits, the Froehlings decided it was time to take a trip to the pediatrician. They thought maybe fluids might resolve what they thought could be a mild case of dehydration, or possibly a minor illness settling in. Mom and dad even thought back to when their little man fell off the couch a few weeks prior. ‘Could this be related,’ they wondered?
Perhaps a CT scan would reveal the answer…but even with those thoughts in mind, they had no idea what battle was already brewing within Patrick’s body.
“The CT showed enlarged ventricles,” she wrote. “My dad explained what that meant…pressure in his head. It also showed a mass, but my dad spared me that info as he knew I had to drive to Nashville. He let the Vandy Children's Hospital ER know we were coming in.”
She talks of waiting while the neurologist reviewed the CT scan…”he comes in to tell us our son has a brain tumor,” she writes.
“At that point, my heart sank and stomach wanted to come up. The fear of the news washed over me.”
That was day one.
Friends and family say it has been a blur since then.
An MRI followed evidencing the tumor which had spread on the brain and down the spine. A surgical procedure took place on March 27, where they removed the reachable portion of the tumor.
For the next several days, Patrick battled one health issue after the next, from congestion and vomiting to fluid filling on his brain.
The following Thursday, Patrick’s condition had declined. Erin writes of how she called for a nurse to help as her little boy struggled to breathe. “They call a "rapid," she recalls. “Forty people flood our room and I am given a few seconds to explain what has been going on. God flows through my mouth and words.”
Little Patrick endures five surgical procedures in nine days. On their way back from recovery, they make the decision to begin chemotherapy. They feel it is their only hope to save their son’s life.
Erin writes that rounds of fluids were administered to allow for hydration before chemotherapy treatment began, but once again, problems arose.
With fluids backing up in Patrick’s body, he is once again in distress. Erin recalls the word ‘rapid’ being called out again, staff flooding into her son’s room. Once stabilized, Patrick is once again returned to the pediatric intensive care unit.
Through it all, Erin’s story is filled with words of Faith and a firm understanding of God’s plan for her and her family’s life.
The prayer group started has steadily been growing by leaps and bounds, now having more than 11,000 members.
Friends, family…even complete strangers from all over the United States are following little Patrick’s story, sending their well wishes, thoughts and prayers for a miracle to the family.
Day by day the dedicated mom has continued to chronicle the rollercoaster of a journey she describes as a “miracle” in the prayer group. She documents the pain and sorrow, joys and pleasures of standing by her son’s side as he travels this road, even as his condition continues to decline with news of a new bowel obstruction and fungal infection.
Even as she updates on Friday, reporting that doctors now estimate Patrick could have mere hours left here on Earth, Erin stands firm in her faith and continues to hold on for a last-minute miracle.
On Saturday, Erin writes, “We have spent the morning loving on Patrick ... praying miracles over him. And, in the midst of tears ... God provides a peace because I know God's purpose is bigger and better than this moment. When we put our trust completely in God, miracles happen in all ways.”
These words are accompanied by the lyrics to a song written by Patrick’s three older siblings, Aiden, Isabella, and Nathaniel, which has been set to music and can be viewed on the Prayers for Patrick page.
Music is something Erin says Patrick always enjoys. She journals about the music therapy that has filled the air of his hospital room this week. “I know he enjoys it,” she writes, adding she is hopeful she will once again be able to see his “beautiful smile.”
Today, on Mother’s Day, she writes, “I think of something many mommies have thought across time… ‘If I could take your pain, I would. I would carry it for you.’
“Yes, I have pleaded with God at times to let me carry Patrick's illness. And, each time, God will share with me very patiently, that I was not meant to carry this illness. I was meant to carry Patrick through it. I was meant to hold his hand, love on him, and love him through this journey. God created Patrick ~ because of his smile, his joy, his strength, his ability to bring thousands together to carry this illness.
“And, yes, it still hurts my heart to watch him hurt ... but it also brings me joy that God saw my little man has a superhero ~ one strong enough to do fulfill such purpose. I will praise God with my handslifted high.
“When we think about all the mommies (in many forms) who have picked up and carried our hurts, our pains, kissed our boo-boos, held our hands, or even prayed for us ... there is so much joy to be felt and so many praises to be given.”
“And, with each thought, my mind and heart drifts back to God's plan ... he put those special ladies in our lives to do just that. They fulfilled their purpose to help us fulfill ours. This could all be done with the Grace of God ~ and with the heart of Jesus.”

TAMA Silverstar limited edition drum kit - Is it worth $699?

I love my Silverstar because it is an intermediate kit with a professional sound. The wood has a beautiful stain and it is 100% birch wood. The bass drum gives a great thump that I love. You'll want to get some road runner cases for when you're on the go.
Is it worth $699 + road runners cost? Yes! $699 might seem a little high but it's not. You get a great professional sound! Check out all the features at http://bit.ly/LuPiIK

Creating videos - A journey of thoughts

There's only one way to explain it. "Creating videos - A journey of thoughts". I soon found out that creating videos was much more work than I thought (but still worth it for me to do all of this work).
I used to use RAW FOOTAGE (a major no no) without any editing! I would post it to youtube and got maybe 100 views a month. Sounds like a lot right? No. If you want to know people are really watching your videos you gotta get at least 500 a day. So, I then switched from RAW FOOTAGE, to fade in, title, footage, fade out. Now when I post that I get maybe 150 views a month! So then I thought... I'm really doing something wrong and I don't know what it is. So I got some help from a friend I like to call the business expert; she said (not exact words but something like this): "If you wanna make popular videos you must take the raw footage and make it into something different. For example, let's say make a video on a survey. McDonalds vs. Burger king. You ask each person 30 questions. I don't want to watch a video that is 20 minutes long" -- Anita Dudek - What she means is that you have to edit some of the middle out. For example, If you re-position your camera while it's recording, we don't need to see that! You can cut that part out (You can use YouTube Editor, or a program like Sony Vegas or iMovie). I don't want to make this post too long. You get the point. Shorten that 20 minute video down to 5 minutes or less.

Short videos make you famous (75% of the time),

Kindle app... is it worth it?

Books... they have info that we often need. But we're always carrying around our electronics.
Introducing Kindle app for PC, iPhone, iPod touch, iPad, android, Nokia Lumia 900, you get the idea.
So is this worth it? Well... it doesn't cost anything; the Kindle app is free to install (It's the books that usually cost money). It's worth your time to install. Books are half price and you can read on your computer, then pick up where you left off on your phone without doing a thing (Kindle syncs pages using the new wireless Whisper sync).

Overall the (computer) app gets a 4 out of 5.
